Ordering FAQs

All of the information on our ordering, shipping, payment, and return policies is listed in our Terms section. For those of you who don't want to plow through it, we've included a few of the most common questions here.

Are you guys really Crazy?

We are nuts about good customer service, and value! But otherwise, most of us have not been institutionalized within the last year.

I can't put any items in my basket?

This problem appears to be due to the Privacy/Cookie settings in the Browser. CrazyPC requires the ability to save a temporary internet cookie for the content of your shopping basket. This cookie is only used to remember the contents of your shopping basket for the duration of your order. The following browser settings have been found to cause a problem:

• Solution1: Internet Explorer 6.X - Internet Options -> Privacy Tab -> BLOCK ALL selected. Solution: First select Default and Apply. Then move setting to "HIGH" or lower and select the OK button.
• Solution2: Internet Explorer 6.X - Add enable cookies for www.crazypc.com. Go to Internet Options. Select the Privacy Tab. In the "Web Sites" area and select the "Edit..." button. Enter www.crazypc.com in the address text field. Select the "Allow" button. This will enable cookies for for www.crazypc.com so that the shopping basket will work correctly.

I can't find a product. How can I find it?

Try our search function. Just enter the name of the product or a word to search on and the search function will search our product database and bring up a list of matches.

Do you ship to APO or FPO bases?

Yes! During checkout select "APO and FPO MILITARY SHIPPING ONLY" from the Ship Via menu. If you are at an Air Force Base (AFB) please select UPS as your shipping method.

Do you ship internationally?

Our website currently accepts orders on-line from the US, Canada, and United Kingdom. If you're an international outside of these countries please follow these instructions. We ship by USPS Express Mail International. Note to Canadian Customers: We offer UPS Standard but please be aware that brokerage fees may be assessed. Please read our terms of sale.

What is the shipping cost?

Our shipping is by UPS and is based on the weight, size of the package, and destination. You can find your shipping cost without placing an order. To do this, select the items you wish to purchase and put them in your shopping cart. Go To "Show Basket". On the right side of the screen you will see a Tiny Cart. Select "Shipping Rates" and enter your Zip Code. The rates should display.

International customers are responsible for all additional customs fees, brokerage fees, duties, and taxes that may be levied by their respective governments. These additional fees may be collected at time of delivery. CrazyPC will not refund shipping charges for refused shipments. 

Can I pay by check (money order or cashier check)?

We accept money orders, and cashier checks. All payment must be made in US Dollars. We will not ship until payment is received. Sorry we do not accept checks.

I'm local to your store - Can I pick up?

Yep! BUT, we are not a retail shop!! You will need to place your order by phone and arrange for a pick-up time. Orders placed before our same day shipping cut-off time, will be ready for pick-up after 3:00 PM on the same day.

How do I return an item?

You will need to submit an RMA request form. Once we receive the request, we will issue an RMA number within 24 hours (weekdays only). You can find the form and return policies here. 

Do I have to pay a restock fee?

Products must be returned with all of the original packaging and materials in good condition. Defective products will not be assessed a restock fee. We may assess a restock fee if  the product is clearly damaged as a result of improper usage, and/or tampering, or is not returned with the original packaging and materials.

What is the status of my order?

If you place your order before our same-day shipping deadline, then it will ship on the same day provided there are no problems processing the order (i.e., backorder, payment issues). You should receive an email notification from UPS "pkginfo" within 24 hours of shipment. We do not ship on the weekends.

If there is a problem with your order we will send an email detailing the problem. It is your responsibility to follow-up to resolve the issues for timely processing of your order.

Do you give discounts for bulk orders?

We will discount for bulk orders. We require a minimum quantity of 25 items for bulk orders.

How can I verify contact between my heatsink and CPU?

• Always verify that your heatsink is making good contact with your CPU before powering up your system! To do this:
• Apply thermal compound to the CPU slug
• Attach your heatsink to the CPU and socket form factor as you normally would.
• Remove the heatsink.
• Examine the bottom of the heatsink to see where the thermal compound has left an impression. It should leave a uniform(even) impression in the shape of the cpu.

Why isn't my ATX power supply turning on?

Some of this is obvious but please check that you have done ALL of the following:

1. The power coord is connected to the power supply and the power supply is
   turned on (switch in the back).
2. The ATX power connector MUST be connected to your motherboard.
3. The power switch from your case MUST be connected to power switch header on your motherboard.
4. The Voltage input selector must be set to 115Volts. This is red sliding switch on the back of the power unit.
5. Double check that all connectors are firmly seated!
6. Not to make you feel bad - but is the power unit turned on? The black toggle switch on the back of the unit should have 'I' depressed.

ATX power requires that the ATX connect is connected and the case power switch is connected to the motherboard.

How do I use a Copper Shim?

Copper shims are great but as always make certain that you are making good contact with your CPU before running the system. To do this:

• Apply the thermal compound to the surface of your CPU heat slug.
• Attach the heatsink with copper shim in place.
• Remove the heatsink and verify that the CPU has made good contact by the examining the impression made by the thermal compound contacting the bottom of the heatsink.

Will the Shim Short my AMD processor?

To avoid the possibility of shorts we recommend either coating the surface of the AMD shim with non-conductive Zinc Oxide or a thin coat of non-conductive paint. Clear coat paint for auto touch up works great. Only a very thin coat should be applied around the circuitry for the processor. Verify good contact with CPU before running the system.

Motherboard Heatsink Compatibility

• The FOP32 and FOP38 are designed to fit just about any motherboard on the planet. The base of the heatsink is about the same size as the socket a or socket 370 form factor. The fins expand out about a 1/2 up from the base of the heatsink.

How Much Power Do I Need?

If you're not sure what power supply wattage you need. Try adding up the amps you have for all of the peripherals in your system. This includes you fans, hard drives, cdroms,  floppy drives, etc. Check the number of amps against the rating of the power supply. You don't want to max this number out so make sure you have room to spare for future growth and to avoid working power supply to hard.

Heh man my PC150 memory isn't running at 150MHz!

The Kingmax PC150 is spec'd to run at up to 150MHz WITH THE SETTINGS AS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. Please check the memory product page for the detailed memory settings. If you can't run this memory faster the 133MHz make sure you have the correct memory settings in your system CMOS settings.

How do I put a connector on the Delta 80x38mm?

The Delta 80x38mm fan that we currently offer has 3 wires. The two red and black wires are used for powering the fan the third blue wire is used for an RPM signal. Since this fan draws so much power we do not recommend using a 3pin only connector for power since this could damage your motherboard. If you decide to use a 3pin connector for the power wires then a 3 to 4pin adapter should be used to power the fan. We recommend that the fan is terminated with a 3pin connector for RPM only and a 4pin connector is used to power the fan. This is similar to how the YS Tech 40cfm fans are terminated as shown here. Here are brief instructions for how the fan should be connected.

1. You will need a 3pin female connector to be used for RPM only and a 4pin molex connector to be used for power.
2. First, we'll connect the power. The red and black wires of the fan will be connected to pin 1 and 2 of the 4pin molex connector. Pin 1 is typically yellow and should be connected to the red wire. Pin 2 is black and should be connected to the black wire of the fan. Pins 3 and 4 are not used on the 4 pin connector and can be removed.
3. Now, we'll connect the RPM signal. The blue wire of the fan is used for an RPM signal. On most 3pin connectors the RPM wire is yellow or blue. Hold the 3pin connector so that the notched end is at the top and you are looking at the notches. From this view the RPM wire is the 1st wire on the left. Connect the blue wire of the fan to the RPM wire on the 3pin connector. The power wires are not used on the 3pin connector and can be removed.

How accurate is CPU temperature reading? or How come my CPU is so hot? I thought this was a good cooler!#?*

How do I install a CPU heatsink?

Will an ATX power supplies work with my Dell?

Unfortunately, many large computer manufactures will not use standard ATX power supplies or motherboards in their systems. They do this mainly to save on costs. To find out if your computer has a standard ATX motherboard  you should contact the manufacturer and ask them. Sometimes you may be lucky and there might be an adapter available.

How do I remove a heatsink/chip cooler from my video card?

If you're lucky your heatsink/chip cooler is attached with push pins and it should just pop off once you squeeze the push-pin tips together and push them back through the PCB board. If luck isn't on your side and your GPU/chip cooler is glued then you've got more of chore on your hands. There's no pretty way to do it and of course it risks damaging the card, but here's how....

Tools needed:

• Broad flat headed screw driver
• Flat piece of card board ( I like to use the kind you'll find on the back of a note pad) - thin but sturdy

Procedure

• Work on a nice clean flat surface. Use an anti-static wrist strap during this procedure
• Examine the card and heatsink closely. Make sure it only connected to the GPU by glue and there are no other attachments.
• If the old heatsink fan is powered by the video card PCB then you'll have to remove the connector as well.
• The basic procedure is to pry the heatsink off using the screwdriver as your lever.
• Find a spot on the PCB underneath the edge of the heatsink that is clear of any circuitry. This will be where you put the screw driver for leverage.
• Use the cardboard to protect the PCB board from damage. Cut a piece that is large enough to protect the PCB and surrounding area if you should slip.
• Put the screw driver under the heatsink and gently but firmly pry upwards.
• You may have to probe around the heatsink to see if there are any weak spots. Be careful and take your time doing this as to avoid any accidental damage to your video card.
• The heatsink should pop-off if you find the right spot.
