Maxtor given new life 04/06/2007 - by Bob The man from Houston, Texas
Got a sweet price at Fry's on a 133 Maxtor 60 gigger, man I was so proud. Then it started freezing up after long run times. (a day) Had been told the HDD was flaking out. Finally got so repetitive that I got this product. Screws right onto HDD and still slides into bay! Never had another lockup since, that's been a year. Oh, and I didn't have to format.
Excellent Cooler 02/20/2007 - by Kris NubDub from New Hampshire
The good- Without it the temps were around 87 F at a room temp of 73 F. With the cooler it's down to 84 F. I know in the summer they only reach about 81 F, but i keep my room at 68 F :P. They're a little costly compared to others i've seen on the market, but I like how you can flip one of the fans over so it has an intake and an blower to circulate the air. So its moddability is excellent when it comes to custome air flow setup.
The bad- Price tag, but hey, everything costs $$ today. If you have a 'tool-less' case, any custom HDD cooler will take up at least one of your other HDD spots. So then that forces me to try and find a decent priced 5" drive cooler. SO if your case only has 3 HDD slots, only one will be able 2 HDD with one of them having the cooler will fit.
Other thoughts- Great product none the less, I recommend this to anyone in our nations hot spots.
Great Item 01/19/2007 - by Nick James from Pomona , CA
Takes up less space, and helps airflow in the front fans!
